Capacity-building expertise for nonprofits, by a nonprofit
Across South Florida, nonprofit organizations work every day to improve our community, deliver critical services, and advance equality and opportunity. However, with growing need and shrinking resources, nonprofits are being asked to do more with less.
A key challenge for nonprofits is building strong, resilient organizations with the staffing, systems and leadership to sustain today’s successful programs while growing their impact over time.
For over 50 years, Impact Broward has helped solve community problems with the wisdom and experience of its volunteers. And since we are also a nonprofit, we are uniquely able to understand the particular needs and challenges faced by other nonprofits. Your mission is to build a better South Florida. Ours is to help you succeed. Request assistance here.
Impact Consulting, an innovative new program from Impact Broward, improves the effectiveness and efficiency of nonprofit organizations in South Florida by providing consulting services that rely on the expertise of skilled volunteer consultants.
Our consultants come from some of the most respected institutions in business, academia and the nonprofit sector. They have been executives in both large organizations and small; planned and managed growth; and mastered change management. Many are retired executives from Fortune 500 corporations like American Express, BlueCross/BlueShield of New Jersey, General Electric, Price Waterhouse, Polaroid, Revlon and Verizon, as well as experienced nonprofit Executive Directors and senior government employees.
Through consulting services, workshops and seminars, Impact Consulting offers fresh, independent and practical solutions to help nonprofits build their capacity in the following areas:
Impact Consulting works hard to assure that the solutions we provide meet each of our clients specific needs. We understand that while organizations may have similar challenges, the solutions are dependent on a variety of factors, including organization size, financial and human resources, mission, values, as well as other variables. We will work with you to understand the context within which you serve your community, and help you achieve your goals within that unique environment.
Welcome to Impact Consulting. As a fellow nonprofit, we understand the passion behind being part of an organization that positively impacts people in our community — including children, the elderly, the disabled, veterans…as well as broader populations — through mentoring, peer support, companionship, food, education or culture and the arts. We look forward to partnering with you to help continue your unique mission and realize your long-term vision.
How It Works
Impact Consulting will be with you every step of the way. First, we will guide you in completing your Request for Assistance, assuring that everyone is on the same page as to what the goals and outcome should be.
A lead consultant, and in most cases a co-consultant, will be selected based on your needs and the consultants' skills and experiences. Impact Consulting will establish a confidential business relationship with you, and together you will develop a plan that will result in a practical solution, achievable goals and, most critically, realistic for your organization (but also requiring a bit of a stretch, of course!)
Every project is different, of course, but all include ongoing dialog between clients and consultants to assure the plan runs smoothly and in a timely fashion. We also like to keep communications open since projects sometimes do change course as we learn more, and we want to be flexible in order to provide our clients with the best solutions possible.

Interested in becoming an “Impact Consultant?”
Impact Consulting is a skills-based volunteering organization. But they all share the common thread of having come from challenging, successful leadership roles, often in the top echelons of the business, government and nonprofit sectors.
To be a volunteer with Impact Consulting is to match your experience and professional expertise with the needs of a local nonprofit; throw in some passion, inspiration and focus; and end up with a result that truly impacts our community.
